Two good friends once bought me a very thoughtful birthday present: The Elements of Typographic Style by Robert Bringhurst. In it they had written an inscription which included a reference to the great typographer Jan Tschichold and a comment to the effect that his surname was virtually impossible to spell.
They were, of course, completely right; but let this not distract from the great work the man did, including, of course, the Penguin cover re-designs. Two links that might be of interest are below:
