Stealing the internet
Written by rich

There was an amusing story in the newspaper this week: a man was arrested for using someone's unsecured internet connection whilst sitting on their garden wall. This reminds me of a story of a friend (and I mean an actual friend, as opposed to a 'friend' who is actually me, in case there are any pcsos around...

As my friend tells it, he was living in rented accommodation and, before setting up his own internet connection, opened his laptop to note it picked up an unsecured wireless network. It being unsecured, and it being free, he went ahead and used it fully for 12 months... until, in fact, he moved into his next house.

Before leaving, though, he thought he would check and see if there was a printer joined to his unknowing next door neighbour's network; sure enough, there was. As if using his neighbour's free internet connection hadn't been enough, my friend then sent a document to his neighbour saying:

Thanks for the free internet for the last 12 months.

Cheeky, but at least his neighbour will know for next time. (Original link via normblog.
