The Sun on child poverty
Written by rich

There's a treat waiting for me every Wednesday: in picking up the Guardian for the Society supplement (at 80p), I always round up my spend to a round £1 by picking up a copy of the Sun, too. For 20p, you can't go wrong, and — with a circulation of some 4 million — it's probably a more relevant read in terms of the politics of elections than the Guardian.

Having caught up on the state of Ashley and Cheryl Cole's wedding, I was very pleased to read David Blunkett's article on the budget and what it should say about child poverty. By suggesting that poorer families could get seasonal grants, similar to the fuel grant that older people receive, Blunkett is touching rightly on some of the practical, ground-level changes that could have a huge impact on families where child poverty is a real issue.

If you're interested in child poverty, the suggestions above are part of some great work by Save the Children and others, and you can find more information here.
