This happened a while ago, but there was an important judgement in the European Court of Justice, in which the mother (and carer) of a young disabled boy was found to be discriminated against because of her association with her son.

This judgement has huge implications for the scope of disability discrimination law in the United Kingdom, and was a very welcome result.
