Redesign doesn't affect work "shock"

Having planned a redesign for arbitrary constant for some time now, a concerted effort has seen the change finally take place. Not strictly anything to do with the PhD, I'll admit, although it may be easy to assume that in order to complete the redesign I have neglected the pressing issue of my annual report.

Although your concerns are appreciated, this has not been the case. The annual report is virtually finished, aside from a few paragraphs of the introduction (which doubles up as the literature review). In fact, the redesign process has acted as something of a motivating factor, for I have allowed myself the "pleasure" of making the necessary changes to the html files only after completing small targets associated with the annual report. Thus, steady progress was made on both projects that had otherwise been looming large for some time.

I find this one of the best ways to motivate myself. Logic dictates that whatever you are meant to be doing at a particular time is precisely the thing that you don't want to be doing. Thus, if I set a weekend day aside for website redesign, the need to go to the supermarket is absolutely paramount; similarly, a day of PhD work is normally accompanied by a nagging desire to watch a film and review it or finish off the website redesign. Having coupled both goals together as described above, therefore, has led to success on both fronts.

I hope you like the new design. If you have any comments, please use the new contact page. (It may seem ironic to have to go elsewhere to make a comment in a "blog" environment but comments are no longer available here because they were, to all intents and purposes, pointless).
