Images of the British Applied Maths Colloquium (2004)
21.04.04
Here are the images taken at the BAMC (conference report starts
here in the PhD diary). Click on the thumbnail for the larger picture; the file size is indicated in brackets. Since a bunch of mathematicians sitting in a lecture isn't that interesting the majority of the images are of the rather attractive campus. Of course, the day that I wandered about with my camera was the only day the sun wasn't having any of it; at least most of them are in focus.
Constable House was the main residence for all delegates and had those funny bathrooms that don't have a separate basin for shower water - it just goes on to the sloped floor (80kB)
This was the opening plenary lecture. You can just make out the title: Surface tension dominated flows (44kB)
And the rather shiny inside of it (92kB)
I think I may have disturbed this moorhen from her nest, judging by the look she is giving me from behind the bullrushes (68kB)
The ducks don't seem to mind my being there - they swam over for this picture opportunity (68kB)
Looking south back across the length of the lake at UEA (52kB)
One of the modern buildings on campus: the Zuckermann Institute (84kB)
The medieval splendor that was Saint Andrew's Hall (60kB)
Once inside, it did look a little more grandiose than the outside had suggested it would be (80kB)
The art centre obviously inspired me, hence the attempts at being arty... (68kB)
...both pictures are of the underground entrance to the arts centre. At least it gives two different perspectives (48kB)
arbitrary constant - a small electronic repository for film, literature, mathematics and other areas of interest since 2003
